Our Name
Why Foodie? First of all, I love food. Really really love it. Just ask any of my friends or family; they’ll knowingly shake their heads in agreement. I have lived in the Finger Lakes region for most of my life.  I loveeeeee it. The Finger Lakes is an epicenter of the local food movement because of our unique mash up  of farmers, consumers and winemaking country.

So what are we gonna do? (What some people call the mission statement)

1. Help people live in a sustainable manner by offering them sustainable solutions that fit their lifestyle.
   
2. Build a community for like minded people to upload, share resources and generate discussion.
   
3. Educate people on sustainability: from beginner urbanites to off the grid country dwellers
   

Meet the Founder: Jen Loveland
I can safely say my life is about 50% led by my stomach.  I graduated from Cornell University in 2009 with a B.A. in Near Eastern Studies while I dabbled and worked in food related ventures along the way: a stint in Cornell’s Food and Brand Lab (food psychology!) and working part time for my father’s business Allens Hill Farms since 2005, which included taste testing (obviously), selling, photography and way more. I couldn’t stay away from food even when I was convinced I wanted to be an agent for the C.I.A.

I grew up tagging along to work with my dad, a general manager of a seafood restaurant from which I acquired a very early and expensive taste for crab legs and swordfish steaks. This affinity for trying foods, spilled into grape juice tasting while my parents dragged my brother and I along to winery tastings and learning about foreign concepts like body, alcohol content and nose.  My whole upbringing has led to what one could say is an extreme appreciation of gourmet and artisan food and drink. Luckily for me, the Finger Lakes region is a hot bed of quality food and beverage producers.
